With tons of Week 1 injuries to some of the top named fantasy football players, the time is here very early to try to get a waiver wire replacement in your fantasy leagues.
Dez Byant, Andre Ellington and T.Y. Hilton, all suffered injuries that will make them miss some time over the next few weeks but you quest for the Fantasy Football championship continues.
Take a look these star players who made an impact Week 1 and should be nice fill-ins until your stars get back on the field.
Stevie Johnson, WR San Diego Chargers
After a bad season with the 49ers, Johnson moved across the state to the Chargers and quickly seems to be fitting in. Johnson is the No. 2 WR on the Chargers roster and caught all 6 of his targets for 86 yards and a touchdown. Going forward, the Chargers will most likely be an aerial attack so if Johnson is on the waivers, you have to get him.
Terrance Williams/Brice Butler WR Dallas Cowboys
If you need a Dez Bryant replacement, well look no further than the Dallas Cowboys roster. Tuesday, the Cowboys made a trade for Raiders WR Brice Butler. Butler is a fast WR with great hands and should instantly add to their offense when he learns the playbook.
In the mean time, go get Terrance Williams. He’s available in most leagues on the wavier wire. Williams will now be the No. 1 WR in QB Tony Romo’s offense. He can catch and he’s a red zone threat so while I don’t suggest dropping Dez because he will help you in the playoffs, I can safely say that Williams is a viable option to hold down Bryant’s spot.
Tevin Coleman, RB Atlanta Falcons
IF, and that’s a big IF, if Tevin Coleman of the Atlanta Falcons is available, you have to go get him. While Coleman only had 80 yards in his first game, it is clear that he will be their No. 1 option and will get points on a consistent basis.
Danny Woodhead, RB San Diego Chargers
Don’t be fooled by Brandon Oliver and rookie Melvin Gordon. Like I said earlier, the Chargers will be an aerial attack this year and there is no running back in their backfield better than Woodhead at catching the ball. Woodhead is owned in less than 20% of fantasy leagues across the board so if you need someone to at least get PPR value and possibly a weekly touchdown to stall for time until Andre Ellington returns, grab Woodhead ASAP.
