What Effect Would Losing Kam Chancellor Have on Seahawks?

Kam

The NFL regular season opener for the Seattle Seahawks begins this week with a road test versus a young, upcoming St. Louis Rams. The Seahawks will still be without the services with premier strong safety Kam Chancellor.

Chancellor has been holding out wanting a new contract, which has become a huge concern for Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll.

NFL Network’s Heath Evans took it a step further, saying this in the video clip below on Chancellor’s importance to the team.

The 3rd best team in the NFC West Division?

Now maybe I wouldn’t go that far, but his importance on the field translates heavily to the Seahawks success.

The Seahawks tried to offset the holout by trading for Kansas City Chiefs safety Kelcie McCray in exchange for a future pick. However, Chancellor is arguably and in Evan’s eyes the best strong safety in the NFL and that might not be enough.

Chancellor brings the BOOM in the Legion of Boom for the Seahawks secondary with his pass coverage and crushing hits.

The New York Giants have surfaced to be a suitor for Chancellor, as this holdout has made the Seahawks uneasy and frustrated. The 2015 All Pro second team safety has went on record to sit out for the entire year if his new contract isn’t resolved.

Will see if Chancellor suits up for Week 1 of the NFL season.
