WWE Dr. Chris Amann’s defamation lawsuit vs CM Punk and Colt Cabana continues into pre-trial proceedings as both sides move into Discovery, which is a gathering of evidence. Lawyers for CM Punk and Colt Cabana filed a motion to throw out the case saying that Colt Cabana was acting as a member of the media during the interview and should not be held accountable for anything said on his “Art of Wrestling”podcast. The motion also said that CM Punk never specifically named Dr. Amann as the one that treated him for the staph infection. While Dr. Chris Amann’s name was brought up during the podcast it was not specifically mentioned when Punk was talking about his staph infection, only referring to “Doc” who treated him. Seems like a flimsy way to try and get out of the case and should be something the jury decides. As far as Cabana, I don’t think he has a lot to worry about as I think he will get out of this just fine. He was, in essence, acting as the media so I think the only one with anything to worry about is CM Punk.
