Although things are looking better for Big Ben, he will miss this week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Roethlisberger has returned to practice on a limited basis but isn’t game ready yet. He told reporters what it is going to take to get him back on the field.
“The biggest thing is being able to avoid the pass rush. I can walk around fine. I can step and throw. But being able to make the subtle moves inside the pocket, and outside the pocket too, is important. I have to make sure I am able to do that.”
In more words than one he is saying he has to be able to protect himself. Roethlisberger is a big, tough, strong type guy but they can’t put him out there as a lame duck if he lacks his mobility.
Mike Vick will start as quarterback in his absence.
