When LeBron James sees something he doesn’t like, change soon follows. Since returning to Cleveland LeBron has served has player, coach, GM and owner in one fashion or another. Reports have surfaced that LeBron called a team meeting during the preseason because he felt the team wasn’t focused.
LeBron and some of his teammates didn’t like the relaxed and extremely loose atmosphere that was becoming a little too common for some guys. Sasha Kaun, one of the new bigs on the team, explained that LeBron just wanted everyone on the same page.
“We were just making sure everybody is doing the right thing and have the right goals in their heads.”
The Cavs ended last season with a host of injuries and still have a few at the start of this season. Kyrie Irving has yet to return to the court and other like Timofey Mozgov, Anderson Varejao, Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson are all being work back slowly into the lineup for various reasons. Not to forget about Iman Shumpert who will be out for several more weeks with a broken wrist and LeBron James who is dealing with back issues.
LeBron does understand how injuries could play a role in the lax atmosphere.
“Yeah, you can see it. You can also tell if guys are messing around a little too much. Me as a leader, I’m able to gauge that and see where our minds are at. All I care about is raising banners. Nothing else. That’s what I’m here for.”
