After the recent firing of former University of Miami football coach Al Golden, rumors are starting to circulate as to who his replacement will be. Today during a radio interview with 790 The Ticket in Miami, former Hurricanes coach, Butch Davis openly expressed his interest in the job.

“Obviously, I’d love to be considered for that opportunity,” Davis said, Via 790 The Ticket . “Time will tell whether that’s the direction the school wants to go.” “I’ve told people many, many times: everything I ever accomplished as a coach has its roots in Miami,” Davis said. “When you spend 11 years there, you’ve got an awful lot invested in the community. Hopefully my name will be one that will have an opportunity to be considered.”

Davis was the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes from 1995 – 2000. He left the program in 2000 to become head coach of the Cleveland Browns, where he stayed until 2004. The University of North Carolina hired him to be their head coach in 2007. Davis was let go in 2011 during an NCAA investigation for academic misconduct.
