Reggie Miller during opening night told the story that Noah approached newly coach Fred Hoiberg and told him he wanted to come off the bench. This morning at shootaround, Noah made sure to let everybody know he never volunteered to be part of the second unit.
“I never said I want to come off the bench,” Noah said following Friday’s morning shootaround. “I said I’ll do what’s best for the team.”
Noah who was the defensive player of the year two seasons ago is not thrilled about the situation but understand it might be the best alternative for a team who struggled to score the ball under Tom Thibodeau. Hoiberg thinks Mirotic who had a good rookie season and an excellent summer with Spain might be the solution to jump-start the offense. His association with Pau Gasol give them more options in the motion offense Fred Hoiberg is trying to run.
Noah also mentioned he had a good chemistry with Taj Gibson which makes the move easier. Kudos to Noah in this league filled with ego to accept his new role. The Bulls could benefit of his motivation to prove he’s a starter and he is also in a contract year so he will most likely bring his A game.
