Many people are sure to pout when they read the MLB’s rule. And at the same time, they will understand where the league is coming from. Was Terry Collins wrong when he poured champagne on fans?
It’s been forever since we’ve seen these teams make it this far in the post season. The Mets are all set to start the World Series next Tuesday. With that said, let the celebrations begin. Terry Collins has been the people’s manager. He’s been hugging fans, drinking and pouring champagne. People don’t seem to mind; heck, they’re happy. But, there is a rule that the Mets skipper may have violated.

Here’s what the league had to say:
“Our policy explicitly states that no alcohol is permitted outside of the clubhouse or at any time on the field of play, and that all celebrations involving the use of alcohol must take place within the clubhouse,” Pat Courtney, MLB’s chief communication officer said. “We have MLB security on-site to enforce our rules. The commissioner determines the appropriate steps if any individuals violate our rules.”
MLB actively discouraged Mets from taking champagne onto field to spray fans after Game 4. Terry Collins did it anyway. Man of the people.

Whether or not Collins will get a fine for this is unclear at the moment. Play ball.
