The Final Four: College Football Playoff Predictions

College Football Trophy

College football is nuts. If I haven’t stated it here before, I am saying this now. I really don’t think there is a truly elite team this year in all of college football, and as the weeks go by that seems to be holding true.

While the teams sitting at the top have managed to avoid taking an L so far this year, it would not shock anyone if one of teams in the Final Four got beat.

There was some movement in my top four, including a team I completely dropped from the group. Lets see where everyone sits heading into Week 7.

Final Four

  1. Ohio State

The Buckeyes had another week in which a lesser opponent hung around with them, before they kicked it into high gear and won by double digits. I’m not sure what is going on with Ohio State, but they aren’t always clicking on all cylinders like they are capable. They may have the most talent as any team out there, but they don’t always play like it. While I don’t think the Michigan State game will be as tough for them, I would be very worried about the big game with Michigan, as they are playing good football right now.

  1. TCU

The Frogs survived a nail biter in the Little Apple against the Purple Wizard and his Wildcats. Beating Kansas State in Manhattan is never an easy task, but despite them being down double digits early TCU narrowed the gap with ease and took home the victory. There are still plenty of holes in their defense, but their offense keeps on scoring points. Trevone Boykin is putting himself in a strong position to make it to New York for the Heisman.

  1. Baylor

The Bears made quick work of Kansas over the weekend, nothing to see here. The battle between the Bears and the Frogs should determine the Big 12 once and for all this year.

  1. Utah

Kyle Whittingham has the Utes balling and they took down another quality opponent in Cal this weekend. They are best team in the Pac-12 hands down and now the early season win over Michigan looks even better with the way they are playing. As long as they keep pounding the rock and avoid the upset bug, I think they have a spot at the table come season’s end.

Missed The Cut:

  • Clemson

They are next in line if one the teams above stub their toe. They made it look easy against Georgia Tech and a pretty good football team, with a damn good quarterback in Deshaun Watson under center.

  • LSU

This team can’t do much wrong when they hand the ball off to Leonard Fournette. They still got some big games left on the schedule, but they seem to be ahead of schedule this year given where people had them picked to finish.

  • Texas A&M

They had the week off and this week they look for redemption against Alabama after they got shut out in Tuscaloosa last year.

  • Alabama

The Tide started slow, but finished strong against Arkansas this weekend. They head off to College Station and probably need to win out in order to have a chance at the playoff this year.
