With just a few weeks until Hell in a Cell, Monday Night Raw had some interesting storyline developments and angles, but none of it mattered because everyone’s favorite stable were the real story of the night. Somehow on a night that featured Brock Lesnar, a world title match being made and even a wedding proposal, the New Day still managed to steal the whole damn show. Let’s take a look at what went down.
No Stopping the New Day
We see Stephanie McMahon backstage on her phone when some familiar faces make their way into the picture…
Somehow, Steph isn’t in the mood for the awesome that is the New Day and she yells at Xavier Woods for his trombone before telling them that they have to defend the tag titles against the Dudley Boyz at Hell in a Cell. STEPH.. DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR!
John Cena comes out for his U.S. Open Challenge and cuts a promo to his hometown crowd, who still boos him anyways. He gets to the U.S. Open Challenge and… DOLPH ZIGGLER’S MUSIC HITS!
Only… Ziggler doesn’t come out. Well he does, but instead of walking out he’s being dragged out by the New Day.
Xavier Woods asks Cena if this is serious enough for him and then they suggest that Big E challenge Cena.
The two have a pretty great hoss match that sees Big E beating on Cena and showing off his strength for most of the match.
Of course, this being a John Cena match, the U.S. Champ does make quite a comeback and looks to pick up the win by going for an Attitude Adjustment. Kofi and Woods pull Big E off his shoulders and are automatically ejected by the ref.
Big E tries to use all the chaos and distraction to hit Cena with the trombone, but Cena ducks and hits an AA for the win to retain his title.
And then of course, chaos ensues.
The New Day comes down and starts beating Cena until Ziggler tries to help out and just makes things worse by accidentally superkicking Cena. Remember that in a few weeks when Cena and Ziggler are feuding because Total Divas.
New Day continues to beat everyone down until the Dudley Boyz come out to make the save and NOPE THE NEW DAY WILL NOT BE STOPPED.
Our favorite stable destroys everyone and stands tall as Raw comes to an end.
THE ERA OF THE NEW DAY IS UPON US PEOPLE.

The Beast… Is… Back – Guess who’s back people?
That’s right, business is about to pick up.
We kicked off Raw with the return of the Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar. As Lesnar makes his way out the crowd breaks into a huge ‘Suplex City’ chant and Paul Heyman introduces everyone to the giant-slaying, streak-conquering, Raw beat of Boston…. BAAAAA-ROOOOOCK LESSSSS-NAAAAAAR.
Heyman talks about how focused Lesnar is on Hell in a Cell after destroying the Big Show at Madison Square Garden over the weekend and he talks about the Undertaker’s history. Heyman says this time though, Taker can’t win the fight because even though the Cell is Takers playground, it’s Lesnar’s lair. Heyman even goes as far as to say that Taker thinks Hell in a Cell is his match, but we all know what happened when Taker took on Lesnar at ‘Mania, which was supposedly his show.
Heyman harps more on Taker going to the hospital for a week, having to take a year off after his match with Lesnar and all that good stuff. He then says we learned at SummerSlam that Taker still can’t get it done and obligatory replay of SS finish. Heyman says that at Hell in a Cell, one man will win and the other will be rolled out to the morgue. And that friends isn’t a prediction, it’s a spoiler.
At this point Big Show comes out for reasons and even Lesnar is laughing as the Giant makes his way to the ring. Show says that Lesnar took him to Suplex City but he came close to beating the Beast before offering a hand shake. How do you think Lesnar reacted?!
Yeah, not happening.
Show then starts calling Lesnar arrogant and says he hopes Taker beats the Beasta gain and, yeah big mistake. Lesnar hits the ring and well here’s a recap of what happened.
A couple of those followed by a big one of these…
And yeah, Lesnar is ready for Hell in a Cell.
Kane-Rollins is Officially On.. Yay. – We start off seeing Seth Rollins losing it backstage because Brock Lesnar destroyed Big Show how was supposed to be his partner and Stephanie McMahon tells him to figure it out. I think I know where this is going guys.
We see Corporate Kane in the ring and he talks about Rollins breaking his ankle and how some 7-foot demon started chasing him and yeah we’re still doing this split personality thing. Kane says that Rollins needs a partner since Brock Lesnar killed Big Show, and he suggests himself. This of course brings out Rollins who loses it while making some jokes about Tom Brady. Kane just wants to be the best Director of Operations he can be and wants to bring the best out of Rollins! He tells Rollins that if he wants to be the man, he has to go through hell and face his demons.
Rollins quips back and they stare each other down until Stephanie comes out and says enough is enough. At Hell in a Cell Rollins will defend the WWE title against Demon Kane, but tonight Kane can team with Rollins if he feels like it. Oh, and if Demon Kane loses at HIAC, Corporate Kane is out as Director of Operations.
Seth, how do you feel about these developments?
Backstage we see more Rollins complaining, this time to Triple H who pretty much gives him the ‘Hey slugger, treat others how you want to be treated’ speech, so yeah.
It’s match time and honestly this thing was kind of lackluster. The real fun started when Rollins was tossed into the corner by D-Von and OH MY GOODNESS HE INADVERTENTLY KNOCKED KANE OFF THE APRON!
For some reason this is enough for Corporate Kane to need to be taken to the back.. I wonder where this is going.
The Dudley Boyz beat Rollins down and then call for a table, but the Champ dropkicks it into them for the DQ.
A WILD DEMON KANE HAS APPEARED.
Demon Kane comes out and tries to attack Rollins, but the Dudleyz gotta get that 3-D in man.
Rollins gets the bright idea of putting Kane through a table and well that doesn’t go as planned. Kane pops up as Rollins is talking trash and grabs him by the neck. Rollins goes up top and tries to fight but Kane catches him and well you know how this ends.
Ambreigns & Orton Get Some Revenge on the Wyatts – A pretty great, physical match between the Wyatt’s and their newest enemies that featured some great spots and some incredibly hard hitting like this.
And some of this…
After all six men beat each other up, our finish sees Luke Harper eat an RKO and then a massive Spear to get the faces a win.
This rivalry is somehow getting more fun as the weeks pass. Sadly, Reigns tells Wyatt after the match that this feud will end at Hell in a Cell.
Kevin Owens.. Still Awesome – After a boring promo by Ryback about taking back the IC title, we get a short match between Kevin Owens and Sin Cara that showcases how awesome the IC Champ is. He even gave us a ‘LUCHA! LUCHA!’ in the middle of beating Cara down.
Of course this ends with a Pop-Up Power Bomb and Owens winning. After, KO tries to take out Kalisto too but good ole Ryback makes the save.
King Barrett Already Back To His Old Tricks – We get a super short match between Neville and Sheamus that sees Neville hit a bunch of kicks on Mr. Money in the Bank. Eventually, King Barrett, who is on commentary for the match, gets involved and distracts Neville which leads to…
Yup, a Brogue Kick. Sheamus picks up the win and Neville apparently can’t feud with anyone other than Stardust or King Barrett.
Give Sasha a Chance – We get a promo from Sasha Banks and Team BAD since Banks is a Boston girl and this is a Boston show. Of course they are interrupted by the Bellas for reasons and Nikki talks crap on the Red Sox (even though her boyfriend is from Boston…) and then of course there’s a six Diva tag match.
This was actually a longer than expected match that saw the Bellas working Naomi over. Sasha gets the hot tag and a huge pop from her hometown crowd and she just starts destroying Team Bella.
Everyone takes turns hitting finishers on each other before our finish sees Sasha make Nikki tap with the Bank Statement.
Nattie Back – Natalya continued her resurgence in the Diva’s picture by picking up a win against Paige in a better than expected match. Paige especially did a good job of really emphasizing her new-found heelish ways.
But in the end, Natalya would pick up the win with a Sharpshooter.
Summer Rae Proposes to Rusev… Seriously – Summer Rae comes out and talks about how much she loves Rusev before showing a video package that is actually pretty hilarious.
She talks about how great he is and then gets on one knee and, yeah seriously she’s proposing.
Rusev says yes, but not yet. He needs some gold around his waist before she gets gold around her finger and yeah this is still a thing people, get used to it.
