The Miami Marlins, who were ranked 29th in runs scored last season, needed some expertise help in that area and they are in the process of naming the All-time MLB home run champion Barry Bonds as an additional hitting coach.
Barry Bonds, after some legal troubles related to performance enhancing drugs, is slowly rebuilding his image in the MLB. Last year he worked with the San Francisco Giants and also worked with Alex Rodriguez last summer for his comeback from suspension. He could only help this Marlins team because his resume as a hitter speaks for itself.
Some might argue that resume was tarnished but you can’t deny the fact he knows how to hit a baseball and that’s what he is bringing to the table. Slowly coming back in the public eye is a strong case for Barry Bonds making it to the Hall of Fame. The opinion will always be divided on Bonds but being in the MLB world again as a permanent feature and getting credit for the potential improvement of a team can only help him remove the black cloud over his head.
