Big Boi On Outkast Passing On Performing At The Super Bowl

The NFL can feel free to offer these two gentleman a return offer any day now.

Big Boi stopped by The Dan LeBatard Show on ESPN today, and the conversation turned to why the legendary group, Outkast, has never played at a Super Bowl.

Big Boi confirmed that they were invited to play the Super Bowl halftime show.

“We was supposed to perform at the Super Bowl,” the MC explained. “We had two songs: ‘The Way You Move’ and ‘Hey Ya.’ Dre didn’t want to split the songs up, he didn’t want to cut the songs, so he was like, ‘nah, can’t do it’…

He wanted to perform both songs in full and they didn’t give us enough time to do it, so we passed.”

Big Boi said he put “a lot” of pressure on his partner-in-rhyme, but Dre did not change his mind. “We look at it now and we laugh,” Big Boi added. “Hopefully they’ll invite us back.” (Representatives for Big Boi and the NFL did not immediately return a request for comment.)

Andre 3000 is always getting in the way of something spectacular.
