On November 21st Miguel Cotto looks to continue his middleweight championship reign when he steps into the ring with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ahead of fight night Cotto, flanked by Hall-of-Fame trainer Freddie Roach, opened the doors to the Wild Card Boxing Club to give the media a sneak peek at his conditioning and readiness for the pay-per-view showdown.
Wearing the rigors of an intense camp on his face, evidenced by a mouse under his left eye reportedly suffered during a sparring session with gym mate Glen Tapia, the champion appeared prime, calm and ready for war.
Before exiting the gym at the conclusion of the workout Cotto spoke with the media about the fight ahead of him while adeptly brushing off questions on a future bout against the “other” middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (should he emerge victorious). In addition to the usual questions on camp, his opponent, and this fight’s place among the history of great Puerto Rico vs Mexican match-ups, the champion shared what will separate the winner from the loser.
