This was an inevitable reaction, with two high paid free agents already manning the running back position. Darren Sproles wants snaps, and not just as a punt returner.
The Eagles most explosive weapon at times told NJ.com that he’s frustrated by his lack of playing time.
“Things get kind of frustrating. You know what I’m saying?” Sproles said. “You’re standing on the sidelines. It’s kind of frustrating. But what can you do?”
“I’m not really on the field. But I don’t get into that,” Sproles said. “If they’re going to put me on the field, they’re going to put me in. If they’re not, they’re not. You know what I’m saying? If they do put me in, I just try to make the best of it.”
You would assume that an offensive play-caller as thourogh as Chip Kelly, would be able to find room for Sproles and Ryan Matthews or Demarco Murray on third downs, but that hasn’t been the case.
Sproles has carried the ball just 39 times this season for 143 yards and one touchdown, with 29 catches for an additional 199 yards.
