It’s only two games a year, but I think we have the making of a nice, intense point guard matchup developing.
After losing at home to the Boston Celtics, 100-85, Thunder star point guard Russell Westbrook had some choice words for reporters who believed Marcus Smart outplayed him on Sunday.
Smart put on a show, dropping a career-high 26 points, while harassing Westbrook into a 5-20 shooting night from the field, with most of his points coming from the free throw line.
When asked about the rugged Celtics point guard bringing it to him, Westbrook let it be known that Smart would have to do over 82 games, and not one good night.
“Uh, no. I don’t agree with you, but no,” Westbrook said when a reporter implied Smart can match up with him physically. “He had a good game. 82 games. I do this. Don’t get it twisted.”
“We’ll see him again.”
The Thunder and Celtics next meet again on March 16, 2016.
