Well we’ve almost reached the end of the line folks. All that is left to decide is who will be participating in the college football playoff, and unless chaos breaks out in the conference championship games it should be pretty straight forward.
If things get whacky this Saturday, then all bets are off for who the committee will put in the playoff, but for now here is who I have making it in.
Final Four
- Clemson
Clemson has taken care of business each week, and now they have to take down one more tough opponent to make it into the playoff in North Carolina. Deshaun Watson has been amazing this year and he has been amazing while down his best receiver in Mike Williams. Clemson will be a tough out come playoff time.
- Alabama
The Tide seems to find a way to get here every year. They are always in the playoff discussion and are double digit favorites over Florida in the SEC championship game. You can write this one in ink, there is no way Florida is beating Bama with Treon Harris at quarterback.
- Oklahoma
There may not be a hotter team in college football than the Oklahoma Sooners. Despite losing to a bad Texas team, they are absolutely rolling behind Baker Mayfield and the duo of Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon. Could they be this year’s Ohio State? With the Big 12 locked up, they will be watching the games like the rest of us this weekend.
- Iowa
Just like Clemson, the Hawkeyes have won every game so far and they face a tough one loss opponent in the Big 10 conference championship. Nobody expected the Hawkeyes to make it this far, and nobody is expecting them to beat Michigan State with a healthy Connor Cook. Can they shock the nation one more time and storm into the playoff?
Missed the Cut
- Michigan State
Win and you’re in. It’s really that simple for the Spartans. If it wasn’t for that one loss they would probably be in the top four right now.
- Ohio State
The defending champs are at the mercy of the system at this point. They need chaos to happen in order to make it in.
- North Carolina
The Tar Heels are in an interesting spot. An upset of number one Clemson would put the committee in a hell of a spot for the last reveal.
- Stanford
The upset win of Notre Dame down on The Farm may be too little too late for the Cardinal. They could still win the Pac-12 title, but they need a lot of help this weekend.
