UNLV coach Dave Rice isn’t playing any games, hammering one of his best players after an embarrassing decision.
Daquan Cook was arrested on Sunday for being intoxicated behind the wheel, and on Tuesday afternoon UNLV announced Cook was suspended for the team’s first 13 games.

“Daquan Cook has been suspended for at least the non-conference portion of the 2015-16 season, which equates to the first 13 games,” the school said in a release.
As the team gets closer to league play at the end of December, “his status will be re-evaluated.”
“Daquan made a mistake and takes responsibility for it,” UNLV coach Dave Rice said via official statement. “He understands at UNLV there are consequences. We are disappointed in his actions, but we are committed to giving him the support he needs to have the opportunity to move forward and learn from this.”
Cook played in 28 games in 2013-14 and averaged 1.8 points in 8.7 minutes per game for the Runnin’ Rebels. Cook missed all of last season with a knee injury.
