Vernon Davis left the Francisco 49ers with a lot of excitement, he was going to play for a team with Super Bowl aspiration and he was going to catch passes from Peyton Manning. His excitement was on hold after their disappointing loss against the Chiefs. Peyton Manning didn’t look good and was benched to prevent any additional injury in a game already out of reach, unfortunately for Vernon Davis as a direct consequence he was benched also. The coaching staff thought it was best to keep him out as well leaving him a little perplexed.
“I thought I was going to play a lot,” Davis told reporters after the game. “I was confused. I thought I would play a lot more than that. Very confused.”
I want to help this team win,” Davis said. “That’s where my focus is at.”
You like to see that your players care but Vernon Davis has been around and he should know that without the starting quarterback on the field and only his second game with the Broncos, the coaching staff was probably helping him by taking him out of a game they have already lost. The Broncos made a trade for him so they will probably play him in a more comfortable setting, they have a week to figure it out when they face the Bears without Peyton Manning.
