The Maryland Terrapins have found their new football head coach with their expected hire of D.J. Durkin.
According to a source, the current Michigan Wolverines defensive coordinator was sought after for his passion to win, and for working under Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh.
Durkin has helped reshape the Wolverines defense as one of the top units in the country, ranking in the top 5 in total defense allowing 281.3 yards per game and 11th in the scoring defense allowing 17.2 points.
The Maryland football program finished the regular season 3-9 and fired former head coach Randy Edsall in October.
New direction is needed and Durkin might be the right guy for the job.
