For pure entertainment purposes, I think the NFL should make this ratings bonanza happen. I mean can you imagine Chip Kelly, DeMarco Murray, Sam Bradford, and Riley Cooper all mic’d up?
Not only did the Eagles playoff hopes burn on the field during that loss to the Redskins, but they’ll also miss the playoffs for the second straight season — making them a prime candidate for training camps highest honor.
As it was so eloquently pointed out today — the NFL can force any team to participate on the show unless that team reaches certain qualification:
1) They made the playoffs in one of the previous two seasons.
2) They have a new head coach.
3) They already appeared on the show in the last 10 years.
Kelly lost angle number two when he took the job three years ago, and the Eagles inability to consistently make the playoffs, made them a prime candidate since they’ve never appeared on the show.
As far as entertainment purposes, the Eagles aren’t a lock — with the 49ers, Bears, Browns, Buccaneers, Bills, Chargers, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, Saints, and Titans all providing different elements of intrigue.
