Martellus Bennet has missed couple games linked to a rib injury but it appears that there is a rift between him and the Bears. Bennett is not happy with his involvement in offense and let it known at practice and that might be the reason he wasn’t with the team for their historic win against the Packers.
Bennett didn’t confirm his frustration about his role on offense but he said he didn’t watch the Packers’ upset and was waiting for the game to be uploaded in his tablet for film study. If anybody can read between the lines, you can tell there is an issue here.
Bennett, who didn’t participate in voluntary offseason workouts, has one year left on his deal and with the emergence of tight end teammate Zach Miller, he is realizing he might not be a priority in Chicago anymore. It would be unfortunate for the Bears to go through locker room issues when they are having an unexpected good season, they are still in the hunt for the playoffs and need everybody to pull in the same direction.
It would be interesting to see how the situation unfold this offseason.
