It’s safe to say Wizards big man Marcin Gortat isn’t use to winning individual awards or has heard his name in trade rumors one too many times. Gortat woke up Monday morning to over 20 missed calls and text message which made him instantly assume he had been traded. After actually reading the messages, Gortat was pleased to find out that they were only to congratulate him for winning the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award.

Gortat definitely deserved the award as his 21.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks proved. With the likes of LeBron James, Paul George, Dwayne Wade and other elite players in the East, this was the first time Gortat has ever been names Player of the week.
