2015 is the year of the backup quarterback. There are teams that are down to their 3rd and 4th string QBs due to injuries and performance. One of those teams is the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens’ current QB is Jimmy Clausen but for a few weeks this season the job belonged to journeyman Matt Schaub. ‘Pick 6’ Schaub, as some know him as, played 140 snaps under center for the Baltimore Ravens this season and according to the details of his contract that will be enough to earn him an extra $1 million in incentives.
“Schaub has already played 140 snaps this year. If the Ravens play their average number of snaps in their final two games, they’ll finish the season with 1,136 offensive plays. That would put Schaub comfortably above the 10 percent he needs for that extra $1 million.”- Baltimore Sun
After crunching the numbers, Schaub’s base salary of $1 million and his signing bonus of $1 million bring him to a grand total of $3 million. Which means Schaub has to hope the Ravens’ offense continues to stink in these last 2 games.
He might as well write his name on that check now.
