Report: Rutgers To Name Ohio State DC Chris Ash Head Coach

If you can’t beat them, go hire one away.

Hoping some of that amazing Buckeyes success can rub off on the Scarlet Knights program, Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash is set to be named head coach at Rutgers according to Fox Sports.
Ash reportedly spurned Syracuse for Rutgers.

The 41-year-old Ash also had a chance at the Syracuse head-coaching vacancy, but sources say he was more impressed by what Rutgers offered, especially from a facilities standpoint, and for the chance to stay in the Big Ten.

Ash has done a terrific job improving the Buckeyes’ D, and their secondary in particular, the past two seasons since moving to Columbus from Arkansas. Having worked under Urban Meyer is another plus, as his coaching tree has produced a very high percentage of strong head coaches. Among them: Kyle Whittingham, Dan Mullen and the latest protege — Houston’s Tom Herman.

Urban Meyer’s coaching tree just got a little fuller.
