Bruce Arians probably wasn’t the most fun person to be around after the demoralizing loss to Carolina yesterday. In fact, nobody wearing red was probably super cheery. That anger is probably going to be directed somewhere and wait, what is that? There is this huge lighting rod looking thing off in the distance…seriously what is that? Oh right, the stack of overthrown balls and interceptions thrown by Carson Palmer.
Bruce Arians did his coaching duty and defended his quarterback. From NFL.com:
“Carson didn’t lose the damn game. Nothing wrong with his damn finger. You can keep all them questions. We just didn’t play well enough. Our best players especially didn’t play well enough.”
If there wasn’t something wrong with his finger there has to be bigger questions for Palmer. Injuries would be the perfect reason for the dramatic drop in quality of play by the QB, rather than what we are left with if we believe Coach Arians.
Of course Carson didn’t lose this game on his own. The offensive line was letting him down all game and forcing a lot of those bad throws, but when you’re the QB you are the lightning rod for blame.
