The Western Conference eighth seed is separated by 3.5 games between 4 teams, and at this point no one has taken control. Currently the Utah Jazz hold the eight spot at 17-20, which has Sacramento Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins very optimistic.
Cousins and the Kings are currently 15-22 and only 2 games out of the last playoff spot in the West, and he believes in his team taking that last spot.
“I’m excited to see what happens,” Cousins said Tuesday, via CSN Bay Area’s James Ham. “We’ve got a great chance and in my heart, I believe we’re going to be in the playoffs this season.”
Cousins added that “it’s the best vibe I’ve seen since I’ve been in Sacramento.” That’s a low bar, but hey, it’s something.
The Kings core of Cousins, Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay gives them a formidable trio and with proven playoff coach George Karl leading the helm this could be a reality.
However, their lack of outside shooting begs to question will the Kings make a move before the trade deadline to give them a better shot of making the NBA playoffs this season.
