The Denver Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in the AFC divisional-round matchup. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas might have a special guest watching in the stands rooting for him this Sunday. Which will be his mother Katina Smith. Smith was arrested when Thomas was just 11 years for drug trafficking. She has been released after a 20 year sentence was commuted by President Obama. Her travel restrictions have been lifted and Thomas would love to get his mom to see him play for the first time.
Yeah, she can travel now, so we’re working on that,” Thomas said, via USAToday.com “It would mean a lot. It would be her first game. I would be excited. I know she’ll be excited. It would mean to see her first game live.”
The Broncos are looking to advance to AFC Championship game after getting eliminated by the Indianapolis Colts last year. This would be their second time in three years advancing to the championship round. With the Steelers battling injuries, this looks like it still will be a game down to the wire. Thomas who has struggled this season compared to last season would love to have his mother in attendance and maybe will get him going to help the Broncos to victory.
