Doc Rivers Compares Blake To Richard Nixon While Explaining ‘Forgiveness’

Doc Rivers can see the ship sinking — he needs his team to respond — or that championship window will slam shut — thus leaving the Clippers president in jeopardy of losing his job.

Doc says he’s forgiven Blake Griffin for punching Matias Testi, one of Clippers equipment manager — after the star forward broke his hand in the incident — likely missing another month or two.

Rivers compared the Clippers forward to Richard Nixon while attempting to explain the “forgiveness” per Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times:

Rivers said Griffin had expressed remorse in conversations with the coach and his teammates. Griffin also has resumed speaking to Testi, Rivers said, though the coach did not know whether the longtime friends had reached an agreement that would avoid a legal entanglement.

“He feels awful about it and he’s let everyone know that,” Rivers said of Griffin. “That’s all you can do, man. You have to forgive people at some point. I believe that. We built Richard Nixon a library.”

Griffin was wrong for what he did and apologized — but the most important thing now — is getting the Clippers ready for a championship run.
