Former NFL QB and current ESPN radio host Danny Kanell, made some controversial comments about Tom Brady on his radio show.
During his radio show, Kanell suggested that the Broncos should intentionally hit Tom Brady after the whistle in order to set a physical tone for the game.
Kanell said the following:
“I think they have to have two personal foul calls, like 15-yarders against Brady,” Kanell said, via Awful Announcing. “Like, they’ve been talking about him crying, I almost feel like this is the type of game where you have to send a message like in the first and second quarter, the first half, hit him a couple of times where it’s a little past the whistle. Like, let him know you’re around. Get those knock downs, get those hits on him, make him aware that you’re coming after him.”
Kanell is known for taking controversial stances at times, but he may have crossed the line here. A late hit penalty could result in a devastating injury which is why this penalty was created. We will find out shortly if any of the Broncos decide to deploy this terrible strategy.
