Has anyone seen Ronda Rousey in the last couple months? Since getting knocked out and embarrassed by Holly Holm, Rousey has been missing in action which doesn’t come as a surprise to me. It’s very difficult and humbling for someone of Rousey’s status to go out the way she did after being undefeated for so long. Rousey has made it known that she plans to continue fighting after her hiatus is over and that she hopes to fight Holly Holm again.
We all know that her strategy didn’t work during their last fight. With hopes of a different outcome, it has been rumored that Rousey plans to work with the great Freddie Roach. Roach is a fan of Rousey but says nothing is in the work just yet.
“A lot of rumors are out there. People keep asking if I’m training Rhonda Rousey and so forth, but they are just rumors. There has been no official request,” Roach told BoxingScene.com.
Roach also chimed in on Rousey trying to go toe to toe as a boxer with Holm.
“I like Rhonda Rousey. She’s a nice girl and I wish her the best, but I think that was a bad choice. She needs more experience in the boxing world. It was probably a mistake just to try that. She should have just tried to go to the ground. That is my impression of what she should do. But again I’m not an MMA fighter but I know how to wrestle a little bit. That’s a tough sport.”
Rousey could definitely learn a few things from Roach. It will be interesting to see if these two build a relationship as well as how the rematch with Holm will unfold.
