Jets Owner Explains Why He Still Believes in Geno Smith

Ryan Fitzpatrick made Geno Smith completely irrelevant this year. The Jets finished 10-6 and barely missed the playoffs. After an impressive season with Fitzpatrick, one has to wonder about the future of Geno Smith.

If you don’t remember, Geno Smith got punched by his teammate and suffered a broken jaw.

Profootballtalk reports that Jets owner, Woody Johnson isn’t done with him. In fact, it’s all up to Geno.

Woody Johnson said this,

“It’s a question of what his desire is, and from what the coaches told me and what I’ve seen myself, I think he’s matured a lot. He knows he’s a professional. He has the ability to do it, if he sticks with it”

There’s no doubt that Smith showed tons of maturity this season. Didn’t hear him complain about the situation but I’m sure he didn’t expect the Jets to do so well without him.

Geno Smith has to show he can be leader and show that this season made him grow into a tougher, more disciplined player.
