Kendrick Perkins may be getting restless in New Orleans. After the Pelicans got off to an incredibly bad start, the veteran center couldn’t hold his tongue anymore. Yahoo Sports had the quote:
“It’s very disappointing. At the end of the day, this is not what I signed up for. I signed up after I looked from the outside, coming into a good young team that has been making strides in the right direction. We got real comfortable. We ain’t got long to make a push.”
Just reading the first few sentences makes it seem like Perkins wants out, but after reading on you realize he is being the veteran leader that this team desperately needs. More from Perk:
“At this point in time, we are all just searching to find the right lineups and who is going to come out and compete at a high level every night. That’s been our main problem before anything else. We just come out too many nights and don’t compete at the level we need in order to win. What really is the key to everything is our level of competitiveness.”
Perkins value lies in his head not in his body, so this is what he should be doing. If there needs to be a fire lit under the ass of the Pelicans, you better believe Perkins will be holding the match.
