Following the tragic death of Lawrence Phillips, there’s been tons of questions as to why he committed suicide, which is what the Kern County coroner ruled it.
After some indecision, Juanita Phillips, has agreed to donate her son’s brain to Boston University’s Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy.
The families attorney, Dan Chamberlain, explained why Phillips’ mother changed her mind.
“She wanted an explanation about what happened, and I told her, ‘Look, the only way you can really explain it is by examining his brain,’ ” he said. “I told her, ‘You owe it to your son, you owe it to every other NFL, college and pee wee and high school and middle school player that played football.’ ”
Lawrence played a major role during the Nebraska Cornhuskers dominance during the mid 90’s and he was the sixth overall pick of the 1996 NFL Draft.
