LB Thomas Davis broke his right arm during the big win over the Arizona Cardinals in Sunday’s NFC championship game. Davis says that he will play in Super Bowl 50 in two weeks “no matter what” via Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.
“I’ve got two weeks to heal up,” Davis said in the victorious locker room, carefully holding his right arm up with his left hand as he spoke. “Come on, you know me. I ain’t missing the Super Bowl, you know that.”
Of course Davis has every right to feel optimistic on playing in the biggest game of his life, but he would first have to get cleared by the Panthers medical staff. Via Around The NFL reports Davis says he believes in the Panthers medical staff as he will have two weeks to prepare:
“I believe in our training staff,” Davis said. “I’ll do everything in my power to be ready to go.” The linebacker also told Terry Bradshaw after the game, “I wouldn’t miss the Super Bowl for the world. We’ve worked too hard to get to this point.”
The Panthers views Davis as the heart and soul of their defense, as he already suffered three major knee injuries. It would definitely be a huge loss for them if he couldn’t suit up and play in Super Bowl 50.
