The crisis in Flint, Michigan is indescribable. Water has turned brown with high levels of lead. Flint has had a growing problem with their water contamination, but was ignored for months on end and as a result, the citizens of Flint have been exposed to harsh chemicals.
Many superstars and community leaders have spoken out and donated to Flint, but there is one person who wants to be the hometown Super Hero. Seattle Seahawks RB, Thomas Rawls, is a Flint, Michigan native and is looking to help out his city in any way he can. He spoke to a Seattle newspaper and told them that his thoughts are with Flint.
“I ask the world to just pray for Flint, Michigan, where I’m from,” Rawls said Monday (via the Seattle Post-Intelligencer). “I can’t wait to go back home and help out with that. I may even try to dig a well and try to connect it to another city or something. I want to be Superman to my city. I love my city.”
Since news broke out, bottled water has been dispensed as well as a state of emergency.
Many of us want to do more than pray because “Faith without works is dead” so while praying can help, we also need action to help our neighbors in need. Here are a few links I’ve found the Detroit Free Press as a great resource to find reliable donation outlets that are dedicated to help the citizens of Flint, Michigan. Check them out below and help!
