Brock Osweiler ended the season the way everyone dreams- winning the Super Bowl. Only he was on the sidelines. On the bright side, he got a paid trip to the Super Bowl and was able to watch from the best seat in the house.
Now the question is, as it was in the middle of the season, who will play QB for the Broncos? Peyton Manning is probably about half way through his 30-pack of Budweiser by now, but he still hasn’t decided on retirement. Osweiler on a potential return to the Broncos via The Denver Post:
“Every single guy on this team embraced me, and that is something I think they all know how thankful I am for that, but this is the best team in the world and we have a very special group in our locker room,”
Osweiler is a free agent that is about to cash in for his short work during the season and most importantly his potential going forward. So if Peyton decides to return, where does that leave Brock? From Peter King:
“I think one little bit of free-agency buzz I heard here is the Broncos won’t be surprised if Browns coach Hue Jackson does more than just sniff around Brock Osweiler. Cleveland is in an interesting spot, picking second in the first round with a cadre of interesting but not lock college quarterbacks on the board. They’re surely not prepared to know what they’ll do a month from now in free-agency, but if Jackson is shaky on Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch and Carson Wentz, maybe Cleveland will look at a reasonably priced (or so you would think) prospect like Osweiler.”
The Browns should always be mentioned with free agent quarterbacks, but would the amount that the Browns would pay be enough to remove Osweiler from inheriting a Super Bowl team?
Other possibilities for Osweiler could be San Francisco (depending on Colin Kaepernick), Houston, or even the Los Angeles Rams.
