BSO Top 20: UNC Remains at Top, Oregon Looks Legit & MSU Back?

Here we are with the latest BSO college basketball top 20.

As expected by now, there has been more shakeup in the rankings, but the two teams at the top were able to remain steady.

Without further ado, let’s check out the top 20:

1. North Carolina Tar Heels – In a year full of upsets, these boys in Chapel Hill seem to be the only steady team.

The Tar Heels haven’t lost a game in nearly two months, including an (8-0) record in ACC play. However, contractors will say the Heels haven’t really played anybody.

As conference plays starts to pick up, Roy’s boys will be playing the likes of Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Duke (2), Miami and Virginia.

Opponents this week: @ Louisville and @ Notre Dame.

OU 2

2. Oklahoma Sooners – When it comes to consistency, the Sooners are right behind the Tar Heels in that department.

Buddy Hield’s squad is (18-2) overall and (6-2) in a stiff Big XII conference.

As part of the Big XII/SEC challenge this past weekend, Oklahoma squeezed out a 77-75 win over Ben Simmons and LSU in Baton Rogue.

Opponents this week: vs. TCU and @ Kansas State.

3. Villanova Wildcats – Jay Wright’s ball club defeated St. John’s 68-53, which was their only contest of the week.

Kris Jenkins led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

“Going into every game, I try to focus on rebounding and today I was just able to get to them,” Jenkins said after Sunday’s victory. “Daniel usually grabs most of the rebounds, so with him being out, it’s next guy up and I was able to make my way to a couple more.”

Opponents this week: vs. Creighton and @ Providence.

4. Xavier Muskateers – The Big East is arguably the best conference at the top with the likes of Villanova, Xavier and Providence.

Last week, the Muskateers captured a big victory over Providence and they capped off the week with a dominant 21-point win over lonely DePaul.

Opponents this week: vs. St. John’s and vs. Marquette.

Maryland 4

5. Maryland Terrapins – After their upset loss to Michigan State in East Lansing, the Terps had to immediately refocus against a tough Iowa squad.

Maryland was able to knock off Iowa behind Rasheed Sulaimon and Robert Carter, who each poured in 17 points.

However, on Saturday, Maryland received a scare from Ohio State, but Melo Trimble’s clutch shots in the weighing moments was enough for them to prevail.

Opponents this week: @ Nebraska and vs. Purdue.
