Cowboys fans will read this headline and gasp but the reality is that another surgery for Tony Romo is actually a positive thing for their future.
Clarence Hill Jr. is reporting that Romo will undergo another collarbone surgery in the next two weeks to ensure that he doesn’t break the bone again during the season.
Per a source, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will have surgery on his collarbone in the next two weeks.
Romo has missed substantial time due to these collarbone injuries, so a permanent fix could mean the Cowboys will have Romo for the entire season and a lengthy post season push.
Coach Jason Garrett said Romo, who turns 36 in April, will have an X-ray next week to make a final determination.
But Romo will have something surgically done to his collarbone in hopes of preventing further injury in the future.
One option is to add a plate to reinforce the collarbone. The other option is to have a Mumford procedure, which will consist of having part of his distal clavicle shaved off or removed to reduce stress. – Hill Jr.
A healthy Romo could mean the difference between drafting in the top 5 or competing for a Super Bowl down in Dallas and at Tony’s age the window won’t be open for very long.
