UFC Commentator, comedian, and podcaster Joe Rogan has gotten himself into hot water again after he made comments on the lackluster fight between Dada 500 and Kimbo Slice via The Bloody Elbow:
“Yeah, his heart stopped. It was filled with cheeseburgers and fried chicken and orange soda.He didn’t train. There was no way he trained. I mean, he might have trained for a couple of days. You should have lost 40 pounds before. It’s not like you didn’t know you were going to do this.”
The comments by Rogan were out of line and it keeps old stereotypes alive, even if it wasn’t his intention. He is a smart guy capable of articulating his thoughts in a better way than that, even if it was in jest. This particular comment was made on a Fight Companion Podcast, where Rogan sits around with his friends (usually Eddie Bravo and Brendan Schaub), drinks, smokes some weed, and pretty much talks shit and watches the fights. More from Rogan:
“How about Kimbo? What the f**k was going on with him? That wasn’t even amateur hour,” he said. “Really? If it was an amateur fight you’d be champing at the bit to fight those guys. ‘I hope they’re in my bracket. All you have to do is dance around for a few minutes and they’re toast,” Rogan continued. “How about that one exchange where Dada just lay down and Kimbo just rolled over on top of him. There was no takedown. I wonder if they were talking to each other. ‘You want to take this to the ground, homie?'”
If you remember correctly, this isn’t the only time Rogan’s podcast has gotten him in trouble. Check out the audio from his podcast with Dana White (not speaking) and Comedy Central roast writer Tony Hinchcliffe:

For someone who has been listening to his podcast for 6 years, I think I know what is going to happen next. Quote via MMA Junkie:
“My contract’s up in August. I might leave in August,” Rogan said on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “It’s possible. I like doing sh-t that scares me. I like doing stuff – I like taking chances in that I like walking away from things. I like doing that. I like experiencing new things. You open up new doors, your mind starts firing in a different way. I’m not a big fan of doing the same sh-t over and over and over again.”
That coupled with the amount of stuff he has on his plate, all signs point to Rogan leaving the UFC as a commentator by August. He is a successful stand-up comedian, avid podcaster, hunter, and a father, so like he has said before, doing less things would be okay with him. The fight companion style fights him much better than the traditional broadcasting and it’s also so much less of a commitment.
