The Warriors are 44-4, have three All-Stars, and oh by the way are the defending NBA Champions. Life couldn’t get much better for them right?
Well if the Vertical’s Adrian Wojarowski is right, and he usually is, the rich might be getting infinitely richer this summer.
When the Almighty Woj speaks, the NBA world listens. His latest Woj Bomb? That the Warriors are the leading candidate to land Kevin Durant if he decides to leave the Thunder as a free agent this summer.
It isn’t only that the NBA champions are determined to recruit Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, the truth is that they’re the most intriguing destination to him. If Durant leaves the Thunder, the Warriors are the significantfrontrunners to sign him, league sources told The Vertical.
Umm… what?
There have been rumblings that the Bay may be a destination for Durant, but until now no definite news that KD is interested in teaming up with Curry and company.
While Woj usually only drops hot fire, he also just dropped a brand-new website that could use the traffic, so this one is still a bit iffy.
My guess is that Durant takes a one-year deal this summer and then really hits free agency in 2017, maybe even as a package with Russell Westbrook. The reasoning for this is that doing so gives Durant an added $30-35 million in max money in 2017 as a 10-year vet in free agency.
Regardless, this summer is going to be a crazy one on the free agent market and it looks like things are just getting started.
