Denver and Ty Lawson should have never broken up. I remember a time where he was one considered of the best point guards in the league. He hasn’t fit in with the Rockets and his stock is at an all-time low. Woj of The Vertical reports the team could be headed for a buyout:
The Rockets and Lawson’s agent, Happy Walters, have recently started to discuss buyout scenarios, league sources said. After an initial unwillingness to part with Lawson post-NBA trade deadline, the Rockets could use the savings on a possible buyout to clear salary-cap space to acquire other players becoming available through buyouts, league sources said.
There are a few teams who explored the option of a trade for the troubled point guard. The Bucks would be an option though they have underachieved this year and the playoffs might not a reality, the Jazz was reported to be interested in Lawson as well.
The top tier teams like the Raptors, Pacers, and Clippers could all explore the option if bought out as well. A rejuvenated Ty Lawson coming off of the bench could turn heads as we head into the home stretch of the NBA season.
