Right now the Golden State Warriors are looking like they may very well run away with the NBA title this year. Monday night the Warriors became the fastest team to reach 50 wins in NBA history. They are dominating the league in the likes of which we have never seen so why break it up?
According to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports some of the Warriors front office are not sold on signing Durant because of the shake up it would do to their roster. Signing Durant the Warriors would have to possibly sacrifice Harrison Barnes along with another player such as Andre Igoudala, Shaun Livingston, or Andrew Bogut. Kevin Durant will no doubt be in demand for a max contract, but this would come at the expense of breaking up a great team with great chemistry.
Adding Durant with two of the greatest shooters in NBA history would almost be unfair, but winning an NBA title won’t be guaranteed. Over the next few months the Warriors will have a lot to think about which could change their organization for many years to come. As for the Oklahoma City Thunder this goes as another example of why you should at least consider trading your best player instead of letting him walk away for nothing.
