It appears the Sixers are still holding out hope for Joel Embiid (remember him?), who has yet to make his NBA debut. Even though Philidelphia knew this going in, their rookie Jahlil Okafor and Embiid can’t share a court. Their skillset doesn’t make sense to play together, so it appears one of them will hit the road this summer. Details from Philly.com:
So the belief is that the Sixers may try to move Okafor this summer if Embiid is healthy. If he isn’t, they have to decide between Okafor and Noel…The Boston Herald had reported that the Sixers had a deal in place to trade Okafor to the Boston Celtics at the Feb. 18 trade deadline. The team denied that report and has always publicly praised the rookie. And it should. He’s been fun to watch on the offensive endOkafor has been playing very well on an abysmal Philly squad.
Okafor has been playing very well on an abysmal Philly squad, so it’s funny to me to put your eggs in the basket that hasn’t seen an NBA floor while moving a proven NBA commodity. But that’s life when you’re trying to understand Philidelphia basbektball.
