Ex-Yankees Show Support For Trump, Explain Why He’s Not Racist

Trump has picked up a few new supporters in ex-New York Yankees Johnny Damon and Paul O’Neill.

Johnny Damon explains why he hopes Trump is the next leader of our country.

“I want (Trump) for president,” Damon, 42, told the Daily News Wednesday. “I’m a Trump fan ever since I met him seven or eight years ago. Everything he does, he does first-class — his hotels, his businesses, his golf courses. The issues all the other politicians failed to discuss, (Trump) is bringing us up to speed.”

He also tries to defend Trump and explains why he’s not a racist.

“Everyone is calling him a racist. He just wants people to come into this country legally and fill out the proper paperwork. That’s how I’m viewing it,” said Damon, who makes his home in Florida. The former major leaguer cited the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California last year as reasons why Trump is taking such a bellicose stance.

“That’s what he wants to watch out for,” Damon said of Trump. “He wants everyone documented and in this country legally.”

Damon even goes on to say that he’s pro-wall.

“I can see other people’s views. The country is so split. Building a wall is going to be tough to do, and there would have to be beefing up of patrols,” said Damon. “He’s trying to make the country great. We’re worrying too much about what’s going on in Cuba, the Middle East. We have enough to worry about here.”

Damon has a non-popular opinion, but still he’s entitled to one. The New York Daily News publicly mocking him for his opinion is wrong and agenda driven. It draws lines and in the long run it’ll limit people from expressing their beliefs.

Sounds like the very thing they’re trying to stop Trump from limiting.
