When you come across someone like Mikaila Ulmer who started the BeeSweet Lemonade, you have to pause and think to yourself: what have I done lately?
The 11-year old is behind the company that is focused on giving back and helping a cause that not everyone knows is so important. She was stung by a bee at age 4 and the rest is history. Quote via Vibe:
“I didn’t enjoy the bee stings at all. They scared me,” Mikaila, now 11 said. “But then something strange happened. I became fascinated with bees. I learned all about what they do for me and our ecosystem. So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my Great Granny Helen’s recipe?”
This isn’t some whim of an idea that is doomed to fail either, they have started small by brewing the lemonade for local events, then moved to bottling and selling it at a pizza shop, and then receiving a $60,000 investment from Shark Tank.
On May 2nd, the name will be changing to Me & The Bee’s Lemonade to help put a focus on the cause behind the product.
I’ve been scared of bees for as long as I can remember, but in a matter of 3-minutes, this girl had me wanting to save all of the bees.
