Prince Fielder Reveals Struggles With Sleep Apnea

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Texas Rangers

Sleep apnea is often a condition that is not discussed but those that suffer from it can tell you the terror behind it.

Many of us have issues sleeping. At times, I wish it were as easy as how babies fall asleep but its not. But, just because you fall asleep fast doesn’t mean that there aren’t any issues when you are asleep. For those of you who don’t know, sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts. Texas Rangers star Prince Fielder opened up about his struggles with the disorder and revealed some very alarming details.

According to Fielder, ASC doctors told him having breathing stop about 30 times an hour is a danger sign. Fielder said his breathing stopped 39 times an hour during the test.

“I wasn’t panicking,” said Fielder, warmly welcomed back by concerned teammates. “I just wanted to make sure I was okay. I felt like I was sleeping long but I wasn’t feeling rested. That was my concern trying to figure out what was wrong.

“Now that I know, it’s good.”

The good thing here is that he quickly sought out medical attention.
