Kawhi Leonard’s ascension to NBA stardom has been a smooth one through his first 4 years. NBA Finals MVP, NBA All Star, NBA All Defensive Team, just to name a few, But even with that, Coach Gregg Popovich still has even higher expectations for Leonard.
After last night’s victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, Popovich told reporters “It is now his responsibility to bring it night after night like Kobe, like Mike, like Magic, like Larry, like Tim Duncan. He is in that category.”
To be put him into a category with those names is a lot of pressure, but through this point of his career Kawhi hasn’t shown to be shy of the pressure placed on his shoulders. So far this year Kawhi is the leading scorer on the team with the second best record in the NBA.
If he can live up to the levels of some of the NBA all time greats is something that we will have to see him prove throughout the duration of his career.
