UFC 200 has a hand full of fights already confirmed but it’s far from finalized and the next additions can make all the difference between it becoming the best MMA PPV of all-time or just another card.
Here are the confirmed fights:
- Conor McGregor (19-3) vs. Nate Diaz (19-10)
- Jose Aldo (25-2) vs. Frankie Edgar (20-4-1) †
- Cain Velasquez (13-2) vs. Travis Browne (18-3-1)
- Johnny Hendricks (17-4) vs. Kelvin Gastelum (11-2)
- Gegard Mousasi (38-6-2) vs. Derek Brunson (15-3)
- Diego Sanchez (26-8) vs. Joe Lauzon (25-11)
- Sage Northcutt (7-1) vs. Enrique Marin (8-3)
- Jim Miller (25-8, 1 NC) vs. Takanori Gomi (35-11, 1 NC)
Most UFC PPV cards feature 11 or 12 fights. If the same holds true for UFC 200, four more fights will be added to round out the card between now and July.
Both title fights are likely to land on the main card and Cain Velasquez – Travis Browne will most likely open up the PPV. That means two main card fights and a FS1 headliner are still in order.
1. Miesha Tate vs Holly Holm 2
Dana White and the UFC have done a great job building the women’s division in a short period of time and he won’t miss the opportunity to showcase a marquee women’s fight at UFC 200.
“You should expect a couple,” UFC president Dana White said recently during an appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “There will be a couple women’s fights at UFC 200. Actually, there will be two or three.”
With that being said, there’s only so many options worthy of becoming a main card fight at UFC 200. Ronda Rousey is still eyeing a November-December return and the 115lb title will be defended the night before at TUF Finale, which means the next best fight is a rematch between champion Miesha Tate and ex-champ Holly Holm.
Dana has said that Miesha will wait for Ronda but taking 8 months off isn’t Miesha’s style. A rematch would sell well and whoever emerges as champion has a captivating narrative vs Rousey.
