Former Red Sox Pitcher and current ESPN baseball analyst Curt Schilling has come under fire for his recent remarks he posted on Facebook in regards to Transgender people.
After numerous media outlets picked up on this story, ESPN released a statement regarding the controversy surrounding Schilling by stating: “We are taking this matter very seriously and are in the process of reviewing it.”
On that same day Schilling took to his blog and explained his view on the whole situation. It’s safe to say, he had A LOT to take off his chest. Here are a few snippets:
“This latest brew ha ha is beyond hilarious. I didn’t post that ugly looking picture. I made a comment about the basic functionality of mens and womens restrooms, period.”
“See here’s the thing. I do NOT care what color you are, what race, what sex, who you sleep with, what you wear. I don’t care and I never have. I have opinions, but they’re just that, opinions. And opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one and they usually stink.”
No word yet as to how ESPN will handle this situation, but I must admit that I agree with the 3 time World Series champion. Regardless of how your opinions may be towards the issue, there’s no reason why one can’t express his views openly on social media. Especially if he’s stated his views don’t reflect his employer, which in this case is ESPN. Let the man express his views.
