I was just in the Wells Fargo for the East Regional, so we can all thank our lucky stars that this didn’t happen then! An escalator inside the Wells Fargo Center malfunctioned after Saturday’s Flyers game, hurling fans on top of one another.
It’s unknown if serious injury was avoided, but a Comcast spokesperson issued statement according to NBC 10 here in Philadelphia.
“We immediately closed it down to protect our patrons and notified the operator. We are working with the operator on investigating this incident. We did not use that particular escalator during tonight’s Sixers game. We expect it to be working in time for Tuesday’s Sixers game, which is our next event.”
Some fans in attendance live tweeted the crash.
